We do not recommend that you drive through Toronto. A Misconception is that those coming to the Haliburton Highlands from the Southwest should be heading up the Hwy 400 to Hwy 11, through Bracebridge, Hwy 118 to Carnarvon then South on Hwy 35 to Minden. These directions will mean that you will encounter more traffic than you will wish for and will add an hour to your drive.
We recommend you acquire an Ontario Road Map and explore a route that takes you over to Hwy 48 or 35. Hwy 407, albeit expensive, is your best route to crossing the North part of Toronto and will take you to Hwy 48 which is also Markham Road. Then follow the directions from Toronto.
Take Hwy 17 North to Renfrew. Hwy 60 (Renfrew bypass) to Hwy 132 West to Dacre, Hwy 41 to Denbigh, Hwy 28 through Bancroft, to Paudash, Hwy 118 through Tory Hill to Haliburton then follow Local Directions below from Haliburton Village.
Turn off Hwy. 35 and go East on the South Lake Road approx. 7.5 km to a stop sign. Turn left on the Gelert Road (formerly County Rd #1). After half a kilometer turn left on the Scott’s Dam Road. Keep right approx. 1 km. The Sunny Rock B&B is on the right just before the Dam.
From the Village of Haliburton head south on Hwy 21 to the stop lights at the Gelert Road (formerly County Road #1), then drive 12 minutes (on the speed limit) east to Scott’s Dam Road. Turn right and drive 1 km. The Sunny Rock B&B is on the right just before the dam.
